Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21 1982) is an acclaimed American actor. Most notably, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. However, in 2001, despite financial struggles, she was able to land her first major role in the online video series Rachel's Room playing the principal character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She played the lead protagonist for two seasons and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work on film more frequently, having starred opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. Grace has been in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 as well as in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Her role was reprised in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost and the final episode. In 2013 she appears in the sixth episode of Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's the star-gazer and a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is part of Gyllenhaal's family and is the elder sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as a teenager when she appeared in small parts in a few films directed that her father directed. She also worked with her brother on the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. Then she appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romance comedy Secretary (2002). The two films were critically acclaimed. In 2006, she starred in numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). The year 2009 was the time she was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. Following that she was a part of comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Some of her other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared singing in Frank 2014 and as a singer the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the title role. Gyllenhaal's first film as a writer and director was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. In addition, she was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
